Hi ladies,
I'm so excited for our meeting this Friday, May 4th. We have a special guest speaker, Laine Alves, who will be speaking to us about friendship. Laine is a wife, mother, project manager, leader and communications director. She has been on staff at Capital Christian Center since 2005 and morphed her role to help spread the word about what Capital has to offer and is doing in the community. Since becoming a mother to Judah & Ireland, she has created a moms group, with over 200 moms, to connect young families in the city through playdates and life. Laine’s new passion has come from launching a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group in the fall of 2012, and seeing lives being reinvigorated.
As part of her talk on Friday, she'll share part of her experience of having kids and finding herself on a very lonely journey until she took charge creating relationships with people that are now her very closest friend. Most of us have never been taught how to make friends and nurture relationships. As a kids, we are put in circumstances (school, sports, etc) where you see the same group of people everyday, but as you get older if you aren't intentional about creating relationships, then they go by the way-side. She talk about how to know what you want and need out of friendship, and also what you bring to the table.

Register for MOMSnext for 2018-1019
Most of you should have already received an initiation to register for MOMSnext for next year at MOPS International. Registering early helps us plan better for the fall if we know how many women plan to continue their membership. To register, click on the link and select the membership type "Mom". Our local chapter fee will remain the same for next year at $30/year (in addition to the $31.95 MOPS International fee that you will pay online when you register) to cover all the materials needed for our meetings. You can pay the local chapter fees at our first meeting in the fall of 2018. Childcare is also available for a fee, but space is limited. If you have any questions about childcare or registration, please email us at register4momsnext@vccmops.org.

Movie Night Out
I was listening to the Family Life Today podcast and heard about a movie they have coming out this week about parenting. It is only playing this Tuesday, May 1st or Thursday, May 3rd at 7pm in limited theaters. The only ones I could find it closely is at Eastridge Mall or AMC Mercado in Santa Clara. I was hoping to catch the 7pm showing this Thursday at the AMC in Santa Clara. If anyone is interested in watching it with me, please email me at jillcleveland@pacbell.net.
Here's a snippet about the movie synopsis: When rebellion creeps into their family, Charlie and Alice realize their approach to raising children isn’t working, and they start searching for answers. But is it too late? FamilyLife’s first feature film explores the joys and heartaches of parenting. Through a story that unfolds over 50 years, Charlie and Alice discover the power of family and their need for God.
