Ornaments for Orphans
Don't forget to stock up on your new Christmas ornaments this year. Next week will be the last week we will be selling ornaments to support the organization, Ornaments for Orphans.Ornaments 4 Orphans is dedicated to providing critical support for orphans and vulnerable children in Africa. The ornaments are handcrafted by local artisans in East Africa and all proceeds help support families with food, housing, clothing and the medications they need. Our next meeting on December 7th will be your last chance to buy ornaments.
Most of the ornaments are about $10-$15 each. It's a great way to decorate your tree or a Christmas package. You can pay in the form of cash or check, or Paypal. Last chance to buy at our next meeting.
Teddy's for Tots was started by a little girl named Cali. It all started with the question: “How does Santa get the toys to the sick kids in the hospital?" From there Cali was on a mission to make sure that every child at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford had a Teddy Bear on Christmas morning.
Our next meeting on December 7th will be the last time we will be collecting Teddy Bears in support of this event. Please bring in brand new teddy bears that are 12" or smaller. All teddy bears must be brand new in an effort to protect the children receiving them.
On Friday, December 14th from 9am to 11am, we are getting a MOMSnext group together to help support the Family Giving Tree. Come spend the morning as we help this organization sort, wrap, and get gifts ready for Christmas for low income children around the Bay Area. Your time does make a difference. This is a super fun and impactful way to give back to the community and get in the holiday spirit. We picked a day that we don't have a MOMSnext meeting and hope you can join us that morning.
There are only 4 spots LEFT for the allotted time, so be sure sign up on the evite as soon as possible. Looking forward to spending this time with you and giving back to our community.

This Week's Devotional*
"The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
1 SAMUEL 16:7
In our last Wife Lab session, we talked a lot out our image and also how God's sees us. We have all judged someone at some point by outward appearance, but God sees us in a different light. He uses the weak to humble the strong, and He has a plan for all of us.
I look at my daughter and know all of her weaknesses. At times, I even wished for her to be more normal, to fit in more, so life wouldn't be so difficult for her all the time. But what I am realizing more and more are all these differences were made on purpose. She was meant to stand out and has these amazing gifts that God gave her. He gave us all gifts to be used in His glory. God sees into her heart as do I. Rather than comparing her outward and at times awkward social interactions, or her low academic performance, or even her lack of athletic talent, I am more worried about her heart. Am I raising a child who loves God, cares for people, and has an amazingly beautiful heart? While sometimes it's hard to bear in this crazy competitive world of ours, I know that's the only thing that matters and I need to get out of the everyday competitive feeling of keeping up with my neighbors and instead keep up with God.
Whatever you may feel judged by today, in the past, or even in the future, know God can see things no one else can. He sees into our hearts and knows what's possible. He is the ultimate judge and will judge those who judge us. Let us look beyond all the Christmas gifts and remember our most precious gift, the gift of a flesh heart made whole through the love of Jesus.
LORD, help me to see past outward appearances and help me see into people's hearts. Help me understand them in a new light and see them the way you do. AMEN.
*This year's devotional and prayer are inspired by the book Encouraging Words for Mothers: Daily Devotions to Lift Mom's Soul by Michelle Medlock Adams.
