An update from MOMSnext!

Hi ladies,

We hope you had a great time learning about everyone's favorite things at the last meeting. We enjoyed having MOPS join us and share their favorite things too. I already have my order into Amazon for a few things! :-)

We only have two more meetings until the end of our year! I can't believe how quickly it has gone by. We hope you can make our Spring Tea meeting on Friday, April 26th. This is a joint meeting with MOPS and a very special event. See more details below.  And then our last meeting of the year on Friday, May 10th! We will have something fun planned to celebrate our year together.

Check out reminders for some of our remaining events in the year....

Spring Tea
Our annual Spring Tea is coming up at the end of this month on Friday, April 26th. This is one of our favorite events of the year and will be shared with our friends at MOPS. Our amazing MOMSnext and MOPS mentor moms co-host the event and put so much time and effort making this beautiful tea as special as possible for us. Let's show our appreciate and support of our mentor moms and enjoy our day of spoiling. Thank you in advance to all our mentor moms who not only share their wisdom and time with us, but share so much love!  Dress in spring and floral attire is encouraged, but not required.

Community Event
Calling all MOMSnext volunteers! Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 25th when we will be volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Drive from 9:30am-11:30 am. There are only 15 slots available, so please RSVP on the evite Dawn sent out to secure your spot. We will meet at the Sorting center located at 4001 North 1st Street, San Jose. If you missed out wrapping presents at our last community event in December, now is your chance to sign up for this one. We hope you can make it.

Mom's Night Out! - PJ style

Our next Mom's Night out is right around the corner on Tuesday, April 30th. Snuggle into your favorite PJs and bring your favorite dessert for a fun girls night.

Get a babysitter or hubby to watch the kids and spend some time with your fellow MOMSnext ladies.

The event will run from 7-9PM at Dawn's house. Please be sure to get out the evite for more details and RSVP so we know that you're coming.

This Week's Devotional

“[God] comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

2 CORINTHIANS 1:4

We may sometimes wonder why bad things happen to us. Why are we made to suffer when we try to do good? Even though we are Christians, there is still sin and suffering in the world. But what if God has a better plan. What if there is a purpose for our suffering, so that we may learn something from it or use it to help and comfort others.

I had always been one to keep my problems to myself. I didn't want pity, but mostly I was afraid of what people may think of me knowing what I've been through. Would they look at me differently? Would they be ashamed for me? Would they judge others I love so dearly for wrongs they have committed against me?

I've learned that all of that doesn't matter. It only matters what God thinks of me. And in sharing more of myself and my trials and tribulations with others, I've found how much it eases my pain. To know that maybe something I said or something I experienced could possibly save them the same level of pain I experienced. Or maybe it is just a comforting and listening ear of something who can truly understand what they are going through, being there myself once before.

Whatever it is, God uses us to comfort and help others. And sometimes it's our pain and afflictions he uses with our love and understanding to help others. The same love and understanding He gives us as He comforts us through all of our pain.

I feel like my lesson learned here is to not be afraid to share my story for there may be good that comes out of it for someone else. We are meant to live in community with each other. To love on each other, comfort each other, and listen to each other without judgement. So don't be afraid to share you stories with others, even the painful ones, as you may find more healing in yourself when you reach out to help others.

Love you!

LORD, thank you for always comforting me in good times and bad times. Help me to reach out and comfort those who are in pain. Use me and my own afflictions to help others. Give me strength to be truthful, kind, loving and patient to all. AMEN.
