Meeting TOMORROW, Friday October 11th.

Hi Ladies,

I am so sorry to be late on the blog this week. I'm hoping to see you all tomorrow at our MOMSnext meeting, where we will have our second session on God's Many Voices. I've missed the first two meetings, but thankfully it is an easy read so I've managed to get caught up on the reading. I am amazed on how much it is really speaking to me and love how it aligns to the MOPS theme this year to life to the full. This week you should have read through Chapter 5, but again please don't feel like you have to finish the reading or read it at all to come to the meeting. You will still get something out of the discussion. So please come! Check out some of the beautiful photos from our last meeting!

Food Rotation
This week, Tables 3 & 4 will be blessing us with food. If you are assigned to either of these tables, you should be hearing from your Table Leader and/or Mentor Mom. Thank you as always to the Mentor Moms for bringing us delicious hot dishes to go with all the other goodies.

GOD'S MANY VOICES: SESSION #2

This week will dive into our second discussion around the book, God's Many Voices. Hopefully, everyone received the book and has been able to start reading, but if not please let someone on the leadership team know.

Last meeting's assignment was to ready from the Intro through Chapter 5 (47-87). Please still come to the meeting even if you have not done or finished the reading. We will have great discussions you will still be able to benefit from.

The meeting will start at 9:15am. Due to the new security in place, please text Vanessa Michaelsen if you plan to arrive after 10am.

MOM'S NIGHT OUT!
Our first Mom's Night out was last week on Wednesday, September 25th. Thank you to all the ladies that were able to sneak away for the night to mingle and get to know each other. Thank you also to our coordinator extraordinaire, Shannon Brink, for making this event possible. If you missed last months get together, don't worry there will be plenty more to come! I'll update the web page and our blog with more upcoming events. Stay tuned!

MAKING HISTORY
One of our mentor moms, Lori McKinley, asked to share this podcast from Family Life Today with all of your. The podcast is called Making History, and it talks about the value of a mothers impact. It’s so uplifting. It also refers to Linda Webber book called Mom you’re Incredible.  If you have a moment, I highly recommend checking this out. You can click on the link to the podcast below.

CHILDCARE PAGERS
Starting this week there will be a new system for checking out pagers. They will be exchanging car keys for pagers when the children are dropped off. At pickup when the pager is returned, so are your car keys.  The keys will be placed in a numbered compartment that matches the pager number.
We feel that this will stem the flow of lost pagers.

While the Children's Ministry at Venture no longer uses pagers during services, they are still needed for our meetings, MOPS meetings, and any other events where childcare is provided. Whether you used a pager recently, or forgot to return one years ago, please return it as soon as possible to Penny in the Children's Center. They are currently down to less than half of the pagers they typically have, which is not enough to cover all the families needed them for childcare. Please check your homes, cars, or offices, for any missing pagers. Don't worry if the battery is dead, they can fix that. Thank you in advance!

MOMSNEXT REGISTRATION
For those of you that have already registered, thank you so much! If you haven't registered yet but are planning to join MOMSnext this year, please first register at MOPS International. Lastly, if you do need childcare during our meetings, please sign up here. There will be an additional cost for childcare depending on the number of children you plan to enroll. Please contact Lisa Sung at lisa.sung@gmail.com for more information on how to register your child for childcare.

WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

"The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety."
~Psalm 18:2

I feel like I'm stuck in this vortex where the world is spinning by me at lightning speed and I'm just try to grab on to something so I don't blow away. Have you ever felt that way? Like the ground is going to crumble at your feet and it is just a matter of time before you get sucked in. At times I can't even tell how I'm feeling as all my sense are heightened and I just feel numb. But there is another way. I feel lost or numb because I feel like the burden of my circumstances are all my own. But they are not. While God is not responsible for bad things happening to us, He is there for us to help us out of any situation and for us to learn something from it. I look at what has happened to my daughter over the past year now as a blessing. Without her ADHD diagnosis, her symptoms of rage, and her outburst getting worse every day, I wouldn't have quit my job, found MOPS, had the time to join Bible study or even a life group. All of these things came into my life when I needed it most.

So we are not alone. When we are lost or feel numb, God is just waiting for us to ask Him for help. His hand is reaching out to us, we just have to look up and grab it.

Lord, remind me to surrender all my cares to you every moment of everyday. Please put heavy on my heart the sins I need to repent and guide me to do the things you have planned for me. Take away all my burdens and give me strength to do your work. AMEN.
