Meeting this Friday, November 8th!

Hi Ladies,

Hope you had a great Halloween with the kids. We saw over 300 kids in our neighborhood and that was when we got home after trick-or-treating. It was a blast and so was our Bunko night last Tuesday. Everyone's costume looked great and it was a lot of fun. We missed all of you that couldn't make it, but hope to see you at our next Mom's Night Out, details below. And check out all our dressed up moms ready for a night of Bunko!

GOD'S MANY VOICES: SESSION #4
Our next MOMSnext meeting is this coming Friday, November 8th as we finish the study with Liz on her book, God's Many Voices. This session will cover chapter 9 through the epilogue. (pg. 149-192).  If you don't have time to read the book but still want to get caught up before Friday, remember you can always listen to the audio book. I've heard several moms talking about it.

FOOD ROTATION
Thank you to the lovely ladies at Table 7 and Table 8 who will be blessing us with food this week. And thank you always to our mentor moms who bless us with hot dishes every meeting! We are so grateful.

DONATE YOUR HALLOWEEN CANDY

One of MOMSnext members, Tawni, is connected with City Team and they collect and donate candy left over from Halloween to the San Jose shelter. These less fortunate families who couldn't participate in Halloween are extremely thankful.

Please bring in any Halloween candy you'd like to donate to our meeting this Friday, November 8th. Since Tawni can't make it to our next meeting, Megan Thompson will collecting candy on her behalf. Thank you for all your generosity and candy donations.

Our first community service event is coming up on Saturday, November 16th from 10am to noon at Bridges Community Church in Los Altos. We will be working with Silicon Valley MobilePack to pack meals for malnourished children around the world. This is a great way for us to help support child hunger awareness, and also a great way to get our children involved in serving God.

To sign up, go to this link:  http://bit.ly/svmp2019 AND use the access code: pack2019

It looks like our shift is all filled up. Thank you to all the ladies who signed up so quickly. If you still want to volunteer, there are some open spots under the general public. You can scroll down to find a date and time that works for you and your family and sign up then. Please be aware of the age requirements shown on the sign up genius page and list children's ages when signing up.

We look forward to serving with you and your families!!

MAKING HISTORY
One of our mentor moms, Lori McKinley, asked to share this podcast from Family Life Today with all of your. The podcast is called Making History, and it talks about the value of a mothers impact. It’s so uplifting. It also refers to Linda Webber book called Mom you’re Incredible.  If you have a moment, I highly recommend checking this out. You can click on the link to the podcast below.

REMINDERS

CHILDCARE PAGERS
Starting this week there will be a new system for checking out pagers. They will be exchanging car keys for pagers when the children are dropped off. At pickup when the pager is returned, so are your car keys.  The keys will be placed in a numbered compartment that matches the pager number.
We feel that this will stem the flow of lost pagers.

While the Children's Ministry at Venture no longer uses pagers during services, they are still needed for our meetings, MOPS meetings, and any other events where childcare is provided. Whether you used a pager recently, or forgot to return one years ago, please return it as soon as possible to Penny in the Children's Center. They are currently down to less than half of the pagers they typically have, which is not enough to cover all the families needed them for childcare. Please check your homes, cars, or offices, for any missing pagers. Don't worry if the battery is dead, they can fix that. Thank you in advance!

For those of you that have already registered, thank you so much! If you haven't registered yet but are planning to join MOMSnext this year, please first register at MOPS International. WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

"Let all that you do be done in love."
~ 1 Corinthians 16:14

As moms I believe everything we do for our children is done out of love. Parenting has been the hardest job I've ever had and once I think I have the hang of it, everything changes. Since the day my first child was born, I was paranoid I might do something to scar them. Or maybe I made the wrong decision for them. But everything I did or didn't do, I did the best I could and it was out of love.

At times when I'm too quick to anger, or not very merciful, I have to remind myself I am only human and we can only do so much. Only through the strength and love of God can we accomplish anything, including being confident our children are on the right path. As I surrender my children to God, I realize that I don't have to make the right decisions because God is leading them. If I make the wrong decision, the Lord is there to veer me back on the right path.

Our love for our children may be strong, but God's love for us is even stronger. So, when you feel like one of those days when you don't think you're enough for your kids, know through God's strength you are everything they need.

Lord, thank you for making me a mom and trusting me with your children. Please guide me to make the right choices for them as part of your plan. Remind me to do everything in love.  AMEN.
