We may still be in lockdown, longing for the school days to start up again, to be able to freely shop at Target, to go to MOMSnext, to have coffee with friends, or you know what just to have 5 minutes of quiet time with no one calling your name! Yes, I hear you. While we have at least another month of this, know that we are in this together. You are not alone!
Though this year did not go as we had planned, we still want to end on a high note. Members of our leadership team and auction leads came up with an amazing plan to keep our auction moving forward. Thank you ladies to your dedication, hard work, and commitment to this ministry. Your efforts are not unnoticed.
IT'S VIRTUAL AUCTION TIME!
Get excited!!! Our MOMSnext auction & End of Year Wrap Up is only days away. In spite of our circumstances, we are using this as a time to see each other, reflect on our year, and look to our future season this Fall. We appreciate all your amazing contributions and donations over the year and hope this will bring some fun and joy to your Saturday, on May 2nd.
Just a reminder... the money raised from this goes back into MOMSnext, so we are able to keep the costs down for all you amazing moms out there and to supplement the fees for other moms that can’t afford to join otherwise. We have so much love to give and community to share in, we want to take down any possible barriers for moms interested in joining. Thank you so much for making this happen!
Ok, on to the good stuff. How do we get in on this auction action, you say? Well let me tell you.
Rules of Engagement
1) Sign up for our Facebook group. If you’re already on our Facebook group, skip to step 2.
Simply click on this link (https://www.facebook.com/groups/vccmomsnext/) to our private group, and ask to join. Because this is a closed and private group, you’ll need to be approved to join, but we are on it keeping a close eye on 'requests to join”, so we don’t miss a single mom.
Not on Facebook? Don’t worry. All you have to do is use your email to create a profile, skip all the steps to set up your profile (unless you want to add your beautiful faces with the name, we won’t object) and then click on the link above to join our group. After the auction is over, you can choose to keep your Facebook profile or delete it. But know it’s another great way to stay connected with other moms in our group, start discussions, post pics, helpful articles, or just get notified about all our announcements. We still send the blog email, so no worries if Facebook isn’t your thing.
2) Log into Facebook to start bidding on your favorite baskets!
Log into Facebook and click on our group link above. We will open the auction this Saturday, May 2nd at 8am. It will stay open until our zoom call begins at 3pm, where we will close bidding towards the end of our auction zoom call around 3:30 where we announce the winners. YAY!
If you can’t make the call, don’t worry as you don’t have to be present to win. You just have to be the highest bid before it closes.
3) How does the bidding work?
Great question! We had to be a bit tech-creative this year, but our auction team tested it out to make sure it would still be easy and fun. On Monday, we will load a separate selling post for each auction item. Make sure you are on our Discussion page where all posts are listed. Find the basket that you want to bid on and use the comments field to post your bid. No need to add your phone number, email or name just the $ number you want to bid. That’s it! Keep checking back and bid more on your favorites if you get outbid.
BIDDING RULES
Each basket has a starting bid in the price. In order for your bid to count, you need to bid higher than the previous bid by at least $5.
To bid, simply write a comment on the basket/post with the amount that you want to bid. For example, if you want the Family Game Night basket and the starting bid is $40, the next bid has to be $45. So I’d write 45 in the comments and hit return. That’s it. Watch the bidding and then enter in a different number the next time you want to bid as long as it is at least $5 more than the previous bid. Egg each other on, let’s make this fun.
Make sure your bid is in at least $5 increments. You can bid over $5, but in order for your bid to count, it must be at least $5 over the previous bid. All baskets will have different starting bids based on the value, so make sure to the minimum starting bid is in each post, if you are the first to bid. However, ALL baskets will have the SAME minimum bid increment of $5. So once the bidding has commenced and there are bids on each basket, you just have to bid $5 higher
What happens if you and someone else bid the same amount at the same time? Yes, we expect this will happen once or twice throughout the day. It will be important that you check your bid after you place it in the comments section to ensure it isn’t a duplicate amount. The first person to bid on the item is the one that will be accepted. So if your bid happens to come in a second later, you’ll have to bid at least $5 higher to make it count.
Highest bid before the close of the auction, WINS! Highest bidder will be announced on the zoom call and Facebook and item will be marked as SOLD.
4) Join our zoom call at 3:00pm to see if you won and then wrap up the year together!

We thought it would be a fun way to wrap up and see everyone while we close out the year. After the End of the Auction @3:30pm we will wrap up the end of our year together….Please come and share what you have learned this year, whether it be a funny story, an answered prayer, a take away, or a special moment. We will miss being together in person but know God will bring us bring us back together again.
5) How will I know if I won?
We will announce the winners on the zoom call as well as on Facebook. In addition, we will reach out to all the winners of the items to make arrangements for payment and pickup/delivery of your winning items.
OTHER HELPFUL FACEBOOK TIPS:
Can’t sit and watch Facebook all day to make sure you win that basket? Not a problem. Make sure your notifications are turned on all you’ll get an email when someone comments on our page. Now, Facebook isn’t all that savvy, so be warned if you turn this on you will be getting email notifications EVERY time anyone posts. Yes, even if it’s not the basket you are bidding on.

Ok, you’ll need to go to your settings. When you log on to Facebook, click on the down arrow looking icon in the top left corner. That will show a menu of items, then select Settings. From the left hand side you’ll see a number of options starting with General, Security and Login…..Scroll your eyes down to the third section and click on Notifications. Under Comments, select how you want to receive notifications and move the toggle to On by clicking on it. Push will open pop up windows everytime someone bids, Email will send you an email notification, and SMS will send you texts. And just to be safe you are getting the notifications, scroll down and select Groups, then turn on Email and/or SMS.

LET'S TRY TO CONNECT!
Just because we have our last meeting, does not mean MOMSnext is over. The women you have met or connected with this year can still be touched by your presence whether it's in person or virtually for the time being. As a MOMSnext member, you are part of an amazing community of women who stand by each other. We love, not judge. I have never felt more comfortable with a group of strangers than I have with this ministry, and I hope you feel the same. Let us continue to connect with each other to share our accomplishments, our joy, our needs, and our lows. We are better together. Please share on our Facebook or the blog how we can pray for each other. Hopefully, you've had a chance to connect with your groups during this time. If you haven't yet, don't worry. You are still so loved and being prayed for even in your absence. It's a big adjustment in our new normal, but know we will get through this. Let this not be the time we lose hope, or our sense of community that makes us continue to have a strong faith. In our weakest and our lowest points, God is our strength. Have faith and stay safe my friends! I will be praying for you all.

Ever thought it might be fun to take on a leadership role? Are you needing something more? Is God pulling on your heart or maybe calling you towards the next step in your journey? If any of this is true for you, then now might be the time to step into one of our open MOMSnext leadership roles for next year.
You might ask...what if I've never done that role. No problem, we've all been there. Ask Julianna, she did it twice. Her courage to take on the technology role having no experience only made her commitment that much more admirable. We've all maybe taken on roles that feel a little uncomfortable, but that's also what makes them exciting. Maybe it's something your passionate about, maybe it's something you've always wanted to try, or maybe it is your God-given talents and skills that is calling you now.
Know that we are a leadership team together. This is the most remarkable group of women I have ever had the privilege to know. They love this ministry and they put in countless, thankless hours making it all work. We love on each other and we support each other. We understand this is a volunteer position. If you can't do something, we've got your back. Someone will step up to help you.

LORD, thank you for bringing this amazing ministry into my life. Please remind all of these women how wonderful and special they are. Let them look in the mirror every day to see not the imperfections or failures that haunts them, but instead the truth in how you see them, Lord. How loved and cherished they are, and how you will never leave their side. How much you love them unconditionally, and how special they are to you. Let them see that person staring back at them! May you be an everlasting presence in all our hearts. May we look to you to celebrate our joys and wins because of you as well as on our pain and darkest moments when we need you most. May you lift our spirits and our hearts up. May we always look up to you. AMEN.
